Putting Together a Last-minute Dinner Setup

12:38 AM

It's always tough to throw together last-minute dinners and can be quite stressful sometimes. So much so that we forget the little details. I feel good when i eat good food. I feel better when everything looks instagrammable. And so when there's a chance for me to host a little get together with friends or family i love (and i do mean LOVE) setting up the table . New year's eve was a little different this year, friends were coming over and like how i always am every year i did not plan any styling or decorating. So i'd like to share an easy way to put together a centerpiece that's easy on the eyes and simple enough to do.

Keep it simple. I love working with neutrals because its blank canvass makes for a perfect backdrop and lets me throw in whatever design elements i wish. In this case, i used a white tablecloth and an overlay of lace for texture. Next, set your stage - I found some wooden boards (scraps actually) that i used as a base to add some height. Not a requirement but if you're working with a sizable area it's good to add height to the centerpiece so it is highlighted. Plus, it's an interesting way to add design elements.

You've set your stage, what's next? The fun part! Bring in the props and make use of what you already have. In this case, i found some crystal candelabras and a tea light holder lying about which worked perfectly well together. Now i know not everyone have these things lying about so what can you use instead? Glasses in interesting shapes work or even teacups could also be an interesting design element. Be creative! I spend quite a lot of time on Pinterest and it's a great channel to get inspiration. If you aren't already using it, give it a try. I'm sure you'll find some interesting ways to put together a lovely centerpiece using everyday items in your home.

Lastly, top it off with some fresh picks - how about some flowers in your yard! We don't have any fancy flowers growing in the garden but luckily we have some simple but beautiful ones perfect for an effortless looking tablescape

And voila!

I hope you like my first ever post on the style section. More to come i promise!
